Will more Americans buy their christmas present online?

Posted on 11/28/2007

One-third of US consumers say they plan to do more of their Christmas shopping online this year, according to a survey by Vizu.

However, the survey found that many consumers would still not buy online.
A major reason why many will not buy online at Christmas is that many people buy gifts at the last minute, which it stops them for ordering something that has to be shipped.

Some of the survey's results give an indication of how retailers can encourage consumers to buy online. 73% of people in the survey say lower shipping costs would encourage them to buy more online, while 66% of US shoppers say they would purchase more online if there were greater guarantees of receiving their purchase.
