According to a survey conducted in Europe and brought out by Jupiter Research, “socializing” via Internet brings benefits to label companies.
The survey revealed that more than a quarter of European online users visits social networking websites, 4% of them recently purchased compact discs of artists discovered thanks to social networks and this percentage increases considerably in the UK where it reaches 44%. Who visits these websites the most? Young European people between 15 and 34 years of age.

The increasing popularity of MySpace, however, has also generated counterproductive aspects. The news regarding hackers’ attacks on some of the artists’ profiles, including Alicia Keys one, spread out in the last few days. Whoever landed on the artist’s page was asked to download a program “codec”, necessary to view videos and this allowed dangerous malware and rootkit programs to access PCs.
