According to M:Metrics, an internationally recognized authority on the mobile phone market both in the US and Western Europe, Italy has the highest penetration rate of 28.5% of 3G connections.

“Our data clearly demonstrates that the Italian mobile phone market is crucial for both the content and mobile marketing sector," confirmed Hervé Le Jouan, Managing Director of M:Metrics for Europe.

According to M:Metrics 37,326,000 Italian mobile users sent text messages during the month of February, confirming it as the most used function.
2,536,000 users searched for news online via their mobile phone.
Just over 2 million read their eMail for work using their mobile phone and 2,227,000 bought ringtones.
